First Things First: Erica's (Susan Lucci) first husband was Jeff (Charles Frank).
— ABC

The Marrying Kind

Jeff Martin, 1971
Erica set her sights on the younger Dr. Martin, the brother of her rival, Tara, when she was still a teenager. They eloped, but the union was troubled from the get-go: His salary didn't afford her the lifestyle that she craved, and his eye wandered to Mary Kennicott. Erica set out on a modeling career, which didn't thrill Jeff, and when she discovered she was pregnant, she decided to have an abortion. Jeff was furious when he found out, but eventually forgave his wife. The marriage ended soon nonetheless, as Erica began an affair with Jason Maxwell, her sleazy agent, and Jeff's affection for Mary continued to grow.

Second Helping: Phil (Nick Benedict) visited Erica in a comatose vision in 1988.
— Ann Limongello/ABC

Philip Brent, 1975
Erica wed Phil shortly after she learned that she was expecting his child. Not too long after their exchange of vows, Erica miscarried. The trauma hit her so hard that she had to be institutionalized. By the time Erica returned home, Phil had reconciled with his true love, Tara, and asked for a divorce — which Erica refused to grant him. But when rich Linc Tyler caught her eye, Erica relented.

Jagged Little Pill: Erica hid her birth control pills from Tom (Richard Shoberg).
— ABC

Tom Cudahy, 1978
Erica pulled out all the stops to get a ring from football hero Tom. Her efforts were successful, but Erica wasn't ready to give her hubby what he wanted most: a baby. So, behind his back, she popped birth control pills. When Tom uncovered her trickery, he was livid and spit that the marriage was over. He took up with Brooke, but agreed to reconcile with Erica when she swore up and down that things would be different. Things were not different, however; this time around, Erica hid from Tom that she'd resumed modeling. When he found out, the marriage was over for good.

On The Sly: Adam (David Canary) was as manipulative as Erica.
— ABC

Adam Chandler, 1984
Adam's hot pursuit of Erica led him to do some underhanded things to come between La Kane and her beau, Mike Roy. He sent Mike off to Tibet on a writing assignment, which irked Erica so much that she walked down the aisle with Chandler. But Adam wasn't convinced of his wife's loyalty, so he faked his own death to see how Erica would react — and her reaction was to reconcile with Mike. When Adam returned from the dead, he demanded that she choose between her fellas. Erica chose Mike and divorced Adam.
