An Engagement On GUIDING LIGHT
Reva takes charge of her love life this week on GL when she proposes to Jeffrey. "It comes out of the blue," says Bradley Cole (Jeffrey). But no need to buy any gifts quite yet. "Jeffrey has other things he needs to settle before he gets married," adds Cole. Like what? Pick up the May 27 issue of Soap Opera Weekly to find out.

Brandon Beemer

BOLD move for Beemer
When he spoke to Soap Opera Digest, Brandon Beemer didn't know what his new role is, but he knows he's going to B&B for a major part. "It's a little strange not knowing who I'm going to play, — I would like to get prepared," admits the actor, who recently was let go as DAYS's Shawn Brady. Beemer adds, "I'm really excited about playing somebody completely different from Shawn." For more on Beemer, who will appear in July, check out the May 27 Digest, which goes on sale Tuesday.

Joseph Mascolo
Joseph Mascolo (Stefano, DAYS)
— NBC

No More DAYS for Mascolo
It's true: DAYS's Joseph Mascolo is out of Salem. "Stefano is still in a coma and that's where he will remain for now," a show spokesperson tells Soap Opera Digest. Needless to say, the actor who has played the DiMera patriarch for over 25 years is not pleased with this development. In a no-holds barred Digest interview he says, "I'm just so disappointed in them." For more on the story, check out the May 27 issue, which goes on sale Tuesday.

More Heartbreak for B&B's Phoebe
Nothing like coming home and finding your mother in bed with the man you thought was your boyfriend. No, it's not an episode of JERRY SPRINGER — B&B's Phoebe walks in on Taylor and Rick. "It's shocking, horrifying and anger-inducing," says MacKenzie Mauzy (Phoebe). How do the lovers react? There's more in the May 27 issue of Soap Opera Weekly.

Christopher Cousins

GL Star Quits!
After taking a "vacation" from GUIDING LIGHT to job-hunt, insiders tell Weekly that Beth Ehlers (Harley) has landed a role on ALL MY CHILDREN. At press time for the issue of Weekly on sale this weekend, several sources reported she would be playing Liza Colby and start airing this summer in a love triangle with former GL spouse Ricky Paull Goldin (ex-Gus; now Jake) and Michael E. Knight (Tad). However, this week it appears AMC has another character in mind for Ehlers.

For the full story — including whether GL will recast Harley or not — see the next issue of Weekly!

Goldsberry To Star in Rent
It's time to go "out tonight," OLTL fans: Renee Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline) has been cast in the lead role of Mimi Marquez in the long-running Broadway show, Rent. Goldsberry will don Mimi's tight leather pants beginning June 16 and continue in the role until Rent wraps its run at the Nederlander Theatre in New York on September 7.

Jake Silbermann and Van Hansis

Times For "Nuke"
ATWT's Luke and Noah have achieved an honor not reached by many soap couples — they are the subject of a story in The New York Times, which notes the duo's YouTube fame, devoted fan base and controversy. To read the full story, click here. (Just skip the condescending opening paragraph if you don't want to be annoyed by the crack about soap fans.) And to keep up with Luke and Noah every week, pick up Soap Opera Digest.

Anthony Geary

Geary Off
Anthony Geary starts his summer vacation a bit earlier than most of us (lucky him!) when he takes off until fall. (Luke exits GH the week of May 19.) As Geary is heading to his house in The Netherlands, we'll wish him a Goed Vakantie.

Michael Graziadei

Graziadei Out!
But don't panic, Michael Graziadei (Daniel, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) is only off for six weeks to film a movie — THE REEF. Daniel will go on tour with Danny starting May 27 — and hopefully have some nice father-son time — and return in July.

Sean Kanan

Kanan Responds to Warrant
As Soap Opera Digest reported earlier, an arrest warrant was issued for Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon, B&B; ex-AJ, GH et al) for failure to appear in a progress report hearing on a DUI charge from August 2007. According to a press release from Turk Entertainment Public Relations and Productions, the actor "has done everything to comply fully with the court's requests, [and] only learned about the arrest warrant from friends who saw the television news piece." Kanan issued this statement: "I take this situation very seriously. I have been working incredibly hard on creating positive changes in my life. I would never knowingly neglect a court date nor any conditions placed on me by the court system."

Kanan stars in the upcoming thriller Jack Rio, co-written by Matthew Borlenghi (ex-Ziggy, B&B; ex-Brian, AMC). For more on the film, check out Devin Owens's blog.

Beverlee McKinsey
Beverlee McKinsey
— CBS

In Memoriam
Daytime legend Beverlee McKinsey died from complications due to a kidney transplant on May 2. During her soap career, McKinsey starred on ANOTHER WORLD as poor farm woman Emma Frame in 1972 and haughty villainess Iris Carrington from 1972-80. She played the same character in the spin-off TEXAS from 1980-81, receiving star billing. The actress also starred on GUIDING LIGHT as the original Alexandra Spalding from 1984-92. GL's Tina Sloan (Lillian) recalls to Soap Opera Digest, "I just think of Beverlee in her long, pink gown at Beth and Phillip's wedding with her beautiful blonde hair, blue eyes and her wonderful life force. She was always so, even in her delivery, no matter what she said — she always said it with such intensity and charm. Beverlee was such a professional and had such presence. She was a brilliant actress, a wonderful mother and a good friend. Everyone who knew her will miss her dearly." For more on McKinsey, check out an upcoming Digest.

As reported in the April 29 issue of Weekly, Susan Haskell is returning to ONE LIFE TO LIVE as Marty — and now it's official! Haskell, who created the role in 1992 and last appeared in 2005, officially signed her deal yesterday, reports her partner Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC). Haskell and Kaye have two daughters — McKenna (5) and Marlowe (1) — and now they have frontburner roles on neighboring ABC shows. Congrats — and welcome back!

Ne-Yo
Ne-Yo

Ne-Yo to AMC

Jason Cook
Jason Cook (ex-Shawn, DAYS)
— NBC

Good Cookin'
DAYS alum Jason Cook (ex-Shawn) is heading to GH, where he will be re-teamed with Kirsten Storms (Maxie), who played his love interest Belle on DAYS. He'll reportedly check in as a doctor in June. He will also cross paths with Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Sarah Brown (Claudia). Cook played Shawn Brady from 1999-2006. Interestingly, the recast versions of Shawn and Belle were just written off DAYS. Check Soap Opera Digest for more details.

Thorsten Kaye
Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC)

Cool Musings
Thorsten Kaye (Zach, AMC) is moonlighting as a celebrity guest blogger on the NHL Web site, sharing his love of hockey and thoughts on the games. Yes, he is biased towards the Detroit Red Wings (as all AMC fans know from Zach's casual wear, and Spike's preferred outfits) but he also has a commanding knowledge of all the teams, and the game as a whole. Check out Kaye's insights at NHL.com. You can't miss his big mug. But wait — when does Zach have time to go to Madison Square Garden?!

Greg Returns To AMC!
Laurence Lau, a Pine Valley superstar as Greg Nelson from 1981-1986, will return to AMC for several episodes starting May 20. Lau, who later starred on AW as Jamie and OLTL as Sam, rose to daytime fame as Greg with his hit pairing with Kim Delaney's Jenny. Greg will be back to reunite with old pals Angie and Jesse, as well as brother-in-law Tad.

Andrea Evans

Tina's Back!
Weekly broke the story in our April 15 issue and ONE LIFE TO LIVE has now confirmed it: Andrea Evans is indeed back as our favorite schemer Tina Lord now that her gig as PASSIONS' Rebecca has wrapped. Evans originated the role in 1978 and last played it in 1990. No first air date was available at press time, but sources say Tina will have a surprising tie to someone not very well liked in Llanview. Oh, Lord!
