The 411
New York City native Jake Silbermann was raised in an artistic family and always had an interest in performing. After graduating from high school, he attended Syracuse University, where he received a B.A. in theater. During college, he participated in several theatrical productions including the plays Three Sisters and True West.
After, he returned to Manhattan and took a job as a telesalesman for the Roundabout Theatre Company. He also continued to act, appearing in commercials and the horror flick Brunch of the Living Dead in 2006 ("I did get eaten," he told Digest). In 2007, he landed a day player role on GUIDING LIGHT; later that year, he was cast as Luke’s long-awaited love interest Noah on AS THE WORLD TURNS.
Almost immediately, Silbermann was embraced by fans clamoring for an openly gay couple and "Nuke" became a favorite pair. In fact, they were so popular, all of their scenes were put on YouTube.com. In 2007, ATWT was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Daily Drama, and Silbermann and Van Hansis (Luke) were invited to attend the ceremony. Over a year later, the pair's popularity continues to soar, as they're constantly voted Favorite Couple in Digest's online polls.

Just Jake
"I was a little surprised, but I understand because the role is unique and I've been really happy to be a part of it. It means a lot that I've been getting positive feedback. My favorite compliment is the chemistry that people feel between Luke and Noah. I love that."
— On the popularity of "Nuke," Soap Opera Digest, 11/20/07
"The cool thing is that it starts out as a fun event, but by the end, the speeches are so touching that I feel like I'm part of this demonstration of self-expression and freedom. It's really nice."
— On attending the GLAAD Awards, Digest, 4/22/08
"I'm stubborn. I'm better now. I'll defend something until I'm proven wrong and then I'm like, ‘Okay, fine.' I'll move past it. But until that point, I'll really defend it. Even when I don't know what I'm talking about sometimes. I'll just think I heard something. I don't argue for the sake of arguing, but I'll say, ‘I don't think you're right.'"
